Your First Year at Momentum Physio & Rehab Group

Month 1 – Learn the Way We Work (Before You See a Single Client)

You’ll attend the clinic 4 days per week, but your time will be dedicated to shadowing, practicals, onboarding, and building confidence — not rushing into consults.

Here’s what that first month looks like:

  • Daily practical workshops (10:30am–12:30pm) – manual therapy, exercise selection, taping, communication, etc.

  • Observation blocks (1:3opm-3:30pm)– watch our physios in action, then break down what you saw

  • Structured onboarding modules – covering our clinical approach, communication systems, note-taking, rebooking, and more

  • Online learning – self-paced courses to deepen your understanding of key topics

This month is about mindset, skill set, and confidence — not rushing to fill your diary.

Months 2–12 – Build Skill, Confidence & Clinical Clarity

Once you start consulting, we’ll guide you through a full year of structured development that includes:

  • 3x case reviews per week – live or recorded consults reviewed with a senior physio

  • 1x Co-consults per fortnight – we step in when you want eyes on things or when it’ll help growth

  • 1x weekly PD session, alternating between:
    – Online learning (self-paced, on topics that matter)
    – In-person team PD, led by one of our senior physios

  • 1x course per month – handpicked for relevance (e.g. clinical reasoning, taping, rehab planning)
    – You’ll receive 1–2 hours of protected time per week to complete this
    – By the end of the year, you’ll have completed 12 targeted online courses

  • Encouraged to complete 1–2 weekend external PD courses per year – for variety, networking, and deeper dives

You won’t just feel like you’re improving — you’ll have the outcomes and structure to prove it.

  • A caseload you’re confident managing
  • Clinical reasoning you can actually explain
  • Manual and rehab skills you trust
  • A clear vision of where you want your career to go
  • And a team who still has your back
  • Force plates & dynamometry – track strength, power & return-to-play with precision

  • PhysiApp – for clear exercise demos, loading guidance & program updates

  • AI notes (Heidi/PatientNotes) – streamline note-taking & referrer letters

  • Peptalkr + Cliniko – automate follow-ups, rebookings & reminders

  • Systems that support, not slow you down – built for clarity and consistency

  • We show up for ourselves and each other — because we win or lose as a team
  • Gratitude is part of the rhythm here, not just a once-a-year thing
  • We plan regular social events to connect outside the clinic
  • Past events include:
    Mario Kart Night
    Dinner & Bowling
    Pilates & Dinner
    Melbourne Day Out
    Christmas Parties
    Team Photo Shoots
    Jenga & Card Game Nights
Fundraising for Run for Kids & mental health initiatives

You’ll join a crew that supports each other, grows together, and knows how to have a laugh along the way.

  • Squat rack, trap bar, dumbbells, kettlebells

  • Calf raise, leg extension/hamstring curl, cable machine

  • Treadmill, bike

  • Therabands, plyo box, hurdles, landmine + cable attachments

“The gym setup was a big selling point — we could go through exercises right there and then. Highly recommend!!”

What We Expect From You

We’re here to help you succeed, and that starts with consistent habits. These weekly rhythms are simple but powerful, and they’re a key part of your development. We expect you to stick with them — because they’re what help you move from good to great.

Weekly rhythms are simple, consistent habits that support your development as a physio. They help you stay reflective, prepared, and intentional in how you approach your week — both in the room and with your mentor.

They’re not just “to-dos” — they’re the foundations that help you build confidence, sharpen your clinical thinking, and make steady progress in your first year.

Weekly Rhythms

  • Patient Reflection (1/wk) — One quick form on how a session felt — rapport, flow, and areas to improve.
  • Case Review Prep — Fill out your form before weekly mentoring.
  • Shadowing Reflections — Short reflections after each session during onboarding.

Growth expectations are the key milestones we’ll support you to reach during your first year. They give you a clear sense of where you’re heading — from building a steady caseload to developing a niche and connecting with referrers.

Growth Expectations

  • 40 Clients per week by 12 Months — With support, you’ll build to a full caseload.
  • External PD — Complete a course in your chosen niche (ideally in-person).
  • Referrer Nurturing — From Month 4, start building relationships and keeping referrers updated.

We expect our grads to begin building relationships with local referrers by around month four. You’ll start with a few key contacts whose clients align with your clinical interests — like GPs, coaches, or gym owners.

This includes:

  • Casual catch-ups (e.g. a coffee or visit)
  • Regular communication (like updates or letters)
  • Being visible and reliable to those referring into the clinic

We’ll guide you on how to approach it — you don’t need to “sell” anything. It’s about being helpful, building trust, and becoming known as the go-to physio for your ideal clients.

It’s also a key part of building a thriving, long-term private practice career.
